What are Requirements for LMIA Approved Jobs?
Experts suggest that interested candidates willing to secure LMIA work permit must receive a valid job offer from Canadian employer after fulfilling all eligibility criteria.
The Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is issued only by ESDC to Canadian employers, who must advertise the vacant job positions in local dailies, publications, newspapers, magazines, job sites, employment portals, and online platforms for at least one month. If employers do not find suitable and ideal candidate for vacant job positions and occupations among local citizens and residents, ESDC issues positive (or neutral) LMIA to Canadian employers. This means that employers are allowed to hire foreign skilled workers, professionals and immigrants for vacancies and occupations mentioned in National Occupation Classification (NOC) list.
A positive LMIA shows that foreign skilled workers are required to fulfil demands of local labour markets, different sectors and industries. It also shows that such skilled workers will contribute to economy as well as growth and development of the country without creating a negative impact on employment opportunities for Canadian residents and professionals.
Therefore, interested candidates seeking LMIA approved job offer in Canada must gain relevant academic knowledge, training, work experience in the desired skills and jobs.
